Credit Card Security Online
Using your credit card to pay for
legal representation via all-lawyers’
web site is a secure way to pay - as safe as booking through our
telephone booking centre. To ensure integrity and security, we
have a number of security features to give you total confidence
when booking over the internet:
- All credit card information
and transactions are kept confidential through the use of
128 bit secure socket layer (SSL) encryption. The padlock
symbol on your browser (
) shows which pages are covered by
this security system. SSL encryption scrambles the information
that you have submitted into small bits of code that are then
incoherently transmitted over the internet. During transmission
the scrambled data remains unreadable until reaching the security
of our server.
- All historical information regarding credit card, name,
and address details is held on a separate secure computer.
- Transactions are carried out in real-time with the bank (in
a similar way to EFTPOS) so we do not view or store your credit
card details on our server.
Do I need a credit card to book with all-lawyers?
Yes. Payment for bookings can only be made using
Visa, Mastercard or Bankcard. Payment cannot be made using
cash, EFTPOS or cheque.
My credit card number is correct, but it is
not accepted. Why?
There can be a number of reasons that your credit
card is declined. These are the most common problems.
- The card expiration date
precedes the booking date.
- You have reached your credit limit.
- You may have provided us with the wrong
card details. Please check on the spelling of your name,
card number, expiry date and the last 3 -digit number
printed at the top of the signature strip on the back of
the card (“card security code ”).
- The purpose of the credit card security number is to
prevent thieves from using your credit card number with
internet and telephone merchants. The security number is a relatively new internet
fraud protection mechanism, and many people are unfamiliar with it.
When will I be charged?
Your credit card will be charged
immediately, but your funds are placed in all-lawyers’ trust
account until we are advised that our agent lawyer has appeared
for you at court. We will then issue accounts for our fees and
transfer that money from the trust account to our office account.
You will be emailed our account (with a nil balance) for your
records.
Why do all-lawyers deposit my money into a trust account?
Because you are paying all-lawyers money before the legal work
is performed, your money must, by law, be kept in our trust account.
This gives you the added protection of depositing your money into
a bank account regulated by trust account laws and regulations,
and regularly audited (sometimes by surprise) by the Law Society
of the Australian Capital Territory.
Why should I use all-lawyers?
Because all-lawyers
have arranged “cheap fees for guilty pleas” for our
client from our agents for a total fee of
$700.00 incl all disbursements & GST (phone fare $720.00 incl all disbursements & GST).
In fact, you will save a lot of money by booking at our low rates (up to 100%
discount on some solicitors fees) instead of trying to find an experienced magistrates
court advocate through the yellow pages.
Can I make a reservation directly through your
agent’s law firm?
In principle you could, but you
would have to pay up to 100% more. The special rate listed on
our website is only available through all-lawyers. Our close relationship
with our agency firms – all of whom are experienced magistrates
court advocates, allow us to offer this highly discounted rate.
The agency firms will not have these rates on file. If you would
like to make a booking directly with a law firm you will have
to pay the higher fees for a full service.
